LEPC
Local Emergency Planning Committee
The local body that develops emergency response plans using the chemical data facilities report.
A Local Emergency Planning Committee covers an emergency planning district (often a county) and is made up of local officials, emergency responders, media, and representatives of facilities in the district.
Its statutory job is to write and maintain the district's emergency response plan, using the chemical inventory data facilities submit under EPCRA. It is also the body a member of the public would approach to see that data.
Facilities file Tier II reports with their LEPC as well as the SERC and fire department. LEPC activity varies considerably between districts.
