SARA Title III
Another name for EPCRA: the title of the 1986 act under which it was enacted.
EPCRA was enacted as Title III of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986. The names SARA Title III and EPCRA refer to the same law and are used interchangeably.
Older documentation and some state agencies still use the SARA Title III name, which occasionally causes confusion when a facility believes it has two separate obligations.
